Of Unrequited Love

I started this project many many moons ago. When I was visiting my Parents in the pride lands, as in up north, and inspiration struck mid sentence. 

For a long old while it stayed in the sketchbook and was joined by a series of letters. Of course I had completely worked out all the images (Apart from H, M and Z which are hard)

During the merry month of November I decided i'd release them to my follows on social media as a little Christmas countdown - 25 days, 26 letters GENIUS. 

You lot didn’t get them because although I had done A and B oh and X and Y I hadn’t fully completed any of the others. 

Any who I went on with my plan regardless and quickly every night (or every morning) I edited and created a new image for that day. Some would say what madness! Why not get fully prepared or wait for New Year but Meh - I do love a challenge.

Head in the Clouds

During the run up to my last exhibition I started to work on an image for the phrase head in the clouds. I had very specific idea of what I wanted and tried numerous times to get in down on paper. First time I perfected the face, but the body had a weird shoulder and the ink ran too much, next the cloud was good but dress was all off. So by the third try at a final draft I abandoned the image for the exhibition. 

In finding the three drawings again I began to work on them in Photoshop, layering the items that worked and deleting the wonky shoulder and hook nose (I had managed in one attempt). I love this way of working and I think the final image is pretty strong. 

Sometimes in seems a shame that it doesn’t exist as an original anymore but it will be a handsome print.

After using Photoshop for a little while to adapt my hand drawn images I've been on the looking out for textures to overlay on top of images to add to the depth of the finished piece. All taken on my camera phone from different places I've visited or messes I have made in the workshop.

The robot artwork I made for the Secret Seven Competition had four layers of texture in different shades added to a plain blue background to generate this space feel.
